As address book is central to mobile usage, SIM directory backup is a strategic application but the majority of existing solutions are expensive to deploy
and need generally a large footprint incompatible with downloading the applet.
There is no light solution allowing simple backup and not requiring complex integration and billing to set up

Applets footprints are large : more than 5 k in general, incompatible with download and requires billing and sophisticated provisionning

in the basic version there is no need for billing as the business case is profitable with the traffic generated
